Using Sata Laptop Hard Drives with PB (working)
November 02, 2014 08:59AM
Hi guys,

Today I just broke my Piratebox cherry. I don't know if anyone answered this, but yes you can use a sata hard drive with the SunBright x3. I am using a 80gig hard drive from my ps3 with the 3040 v2.4.

I'm pretty sure any size sata hard drive will work though. They go for about 15-30 bucks on amazon.

Here's the link SunBright X3

Peace,

I have a PB based on TL-MR3040V2.1 that is connected via USB to a SATA SSD. The SSD is in an external USB 2.0 enclosure. Works fine without external power. But I assume that battery life is reduced, so I normally use it with a powerbank.

I would assume that a mechanical HD would draw too much power, so it would have to be powered separatly.
