USB 2.0 or 3.0 for MR3040?
November 14, 2014 03:17AM
I can't find a definitive answer of whether an MR3040 can use a USB 3.0 flash drive. For example, the SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 is just a little more expensive than the SanDisk Cruzer Fit USB 2.0 drive. In the unlikely event I get tired of playing with my new PirateBox, I could reuse the drive for other stuff and have an overall faster unit.

Not that I spend my days waiting on USB drive transfers, but still... it's the principle of the thing. :-)

I don't recommend using a USB3.0 stick on MR3040-USB2.0 device, but I know alot of people have a working setup in this constellation (see forums).

Give it a try.

As a data point, the SanDisk Ultra Fit 64GB flash drive seems to be working flawlessly.

Check out, that the USB Stick really has one partition and is detected as /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda only. And take care of the filesystem, it must be FAT32
