Customising Piratebox on TL-MR3420
January 16, 2015 12:56PM
Good Day all,

I have just flashed my first Piratebox on a TL-MR3420. I wish to ask a few questions on how I can customise it. These might also become part of an FAQ if required.

1. Can the Piratebox run without a Usbdrive, straight out of the 'box' ?
If

2. Can the Piratebox installation get damaged if one boots it up without a USB drive ?
IE One might possibly turn it on whilst forgetting to insert the USB drive. If this happens can it be simply turned off, USB inserted and then turned on again?

No, parts of the software is installed on the USB stick.

Yes it should boot.. at least in failsafe mode. Important rule: use a static IP like 192.168.1.2
We have a description in OpenWrt-TroubleShooting how to recover from a lost usb stick.
