TP-LINK 3020/3040 Access Range Extender

Can anyone tell me if this is possible:

I want to hook up some sort of antenna device to the tp-link 3020 or 3040, in order to allow users to connect from a longer distance? I've seen this before but only once and it wasn't on a TP.

As long it is a classical repeater, it will work.
Putting a bigger antenna is a bad idea.
