A while back RetroShare was debated as an addition to PB.
Here is another solution called Friendica [friendica.com]
I believe RetroShare may be overkill for some people but Friendica gives you a familar look with simplicity in mind.
Right now it runs on a LAMP stack but i think it should fairly easy to port it to Openwrt since a full lamp is quite a load on these routers i'm sure the genius that is Matthias could get it going with little effort.

mh, that is a heavy piece of software.
I guess a RPi would be fine with that, but I guess a MR3020 wont do well with a mysql server running on it winking smiley
Interesting, further things are interesting like "what kind of services are needed in addition". Like "do I need email for sign up".

What me bothers is, that it will be hard to resolve all external ressources (like jQuery) to make it point to a local machine only.
