MR3020 as webserver
March 31, 2012 11:36AM
Hello,

i want to know if it's possible to use the MR3020 as web server hosting for home with ETHERNET only .

i would install apache and php5 to use DAVICAL or RADICAL too.

is it possible to install apache, PHP and postgresql on it : does the hardware and particulary the 32MO of ram are sufficiant for hosting a small web server and use it ? or must i use another hardware as a synology usb station ?

thanks for all (perhaps i'm not on good forum ..but )

You have to install apache, php and all stuff needed to the usb stick, because the MR3020 don't have enough disk-space.
The piratebox package using this technique for installing python in a loop-back device.

If you are still interested, look at the /etc/piratebox.common file, there is all the commands you need winking smiley

not enough on memory ?
but , do you think that for use apache and owncloud or davical : is it sufficiant ?

for plain web site , i think that the best way is to go to a synology usb station 2 : more powerfull ?

but for personnal use such as caldav server or upnp station is it possible with it ?

my way is to use it as caldav server and small personnal cloud with printer server possibility => is there possible for you and is it an actual good choice ?

thanks for all

usb station 2
CPU : 800 MHz
RAM : DDR2 128 MB

MR3020
CPU: 400MHz
RAM: 32 MB

Should be sufficient for personal use.
For static Pages (or with less php) MR3020 may be enough too. I can't talk about it, because I don't have any experiences with this.
