Building My Own Custom PirateBox.. Will It Work?

Let me start off by saying that I have very little experience with electronics and coding.
From what I have seen, you can just use a portable modem such as the mr3020 with a memory stick as a piratebox, correct?
If this is true, would I be able to connect this qgAAOSwJkJWi5M7" rel="nofollow">battery to this charging module and hook the 5 volts from the module up to the mr3020? The end goal of this is to have it as compact as possible, (I will be taking apart the mr3020 and squeezing all of this into a tiny case of some sort..)
