PirateBox on RaspBerry B+ with wireless usb adapter
July 15, 2018 10:13PM
Hi,
I installed PirateBox on my Raspberry B+ 1Gb model, with a wireless USB adapter.
The adapter is working fine, as I can scan with iwlist.
But I have an error when I tried to run the wifi_detect.sh script :
alarmpi | 02:13:10 | /opt/piratebox/rpi/bin
alarm > sudo ./wifi_detect.sh
Found wifi card config
Could not find an AP enabled WiFi card...
Found wifi card config
Found wpa_supplicant conf, trying to connect...
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
ioctl[SIOCSIWENCODEEXT]: Invalid argument
ioctl[SIOCSIWENCODEEXT]: Invalid argument
wlan0: waiting for carrier
timed out
dhcpcd exite
I didn't change anything in /opt/piratebox/conf/piratebox.conf neither in /opt/piratebox/conf/hostapd.conf
Some help would be really appreciated!
Hi,
I get the same things !
Any idea to solve ?
Thanx
Kicik

Hi,

The error suggests that your wifi card does not support AP mode, "Could not find an AP enabled WiFi card..."

What do you mean you can "scan with iwlist", scan for nearby SSIDs?

Can you check with
iw list
the supported modes of the card? AP should be one of them.

Hi Nargren,
Thanks for your reply.
You are right, my wifi adapter doesn't support AP. Now I know what is it and how it works.
As I didn't planned to use the wireless connexion, I will check if I can manage to have Piratebox working on wired network only.
I will create a new thread if I have some problem.
