Can't reinstall MR3040 [SOLVED]

So, I need some help! SEE THE SOLUTION IN THE NEXT POST

I was changing my SSID and something happened in PuTTY, it crashed.. I restarted the PB, and noticed that it was no longer distributing a wireless signal, and went back to vi into the file to check and see what was up.. well the file is empty.. So I figured it'd be easy enough just to reinstall the thing.. Wrong.. I can not get it to work.. maybe I am doing something wrong?

I am putting the install folder onto the USB stick after formatting it, along with the firmware for my model, then putting it back into the PB, and firing it up.. it sits there and does a whole of nothing.. So I researched a bit and saw to rename the file "auto_package_done" to "auto_package". I did this, and still no avail..

And I guess I might add that I can not SSH or Telnet back into the router either at this time...

I really wish I would had just left the SSID ALONE.. lol I really need this thing to work.. been working on it all day.. Maybe serial is my only choice now?

So with the help of crunchy_captain (Which actually wasn't his user on there, it was really captain_curly and his name on the forum is caretu) on the IRC chat, I was able to get my mr3040 back up and running!

Here's what I did:

I had to go in via serial and install the firmware.

Here's a pretty great guide, it's for the mr3020, but just take the concepts and apply it to the 3040, just make sure to get the correct firmware for your device.
Recover bricked MR3020

To make sure you give the correct commands for your specific device (in my case the 3040v2), make sure to follow the commands located here: [wiki.openwrt.org]

I have a FTDI programmer that I used for this process. Make sure to pay attention to the pin layout on the board, and how it corresponds to the pinout on the FTDI. I did not use the VCC from the FTDI, I just powered from the usb, to make sure I didn't fry anything (if you put more than 3.3v in at the serial connection then you will fry it).

I then proceeded to simply put the install folder from the install_piratebox.zip after unzipping it.
And I also put the customized copy of openwrt on the usb drive an plug it into your box.

From here, I just followed the guide mentioned above. Just make sure to pay attention to what commands you are suppose to give for your device. Once again, located here. Let the device do it's job, it took mine a good 30 mins before it rebooted and was working properly.

Hopefully that will help anyone who was in my situation out!!

This is too funny! I suck at names man.. You know I even asked about your name! Oh well.. ><
