V1 or V2?

i have a TP-Link 3040 and was wondering, what the Firmware updates mean by V1 or V2?
- Are there 2 versions of the router? if so how do i know which i have?
- Or is it just a newer update to the firmware?

yes, there are two versions of the device available.

the difference is: v2 does have a mode switch (wisp,ap,router?) on the opposite side of the power switch

I ordered a refurbished MR3040 off Ebay.. Ebay link

Should have been a V1, but when I got it yesterday, it said V2 on the box.. Opened it up, and it was marked V2 under the battery,
and it has the right kind of switch.. 3g/4g Wisp Ap.

I had to delete the V1 image off my PC and download the V2 image. I was a little confused typing in the scripts, but it seems to be working pretty well so far.

The unit, charger, cables, docs & the packaging looks brand new. I purchased a "new" MR3040 last year, to control a DSLR,
(for my kid's telescope) and this one looks identical.

Cheers,
Rich
