Can't connect to MR3020 over wifi
September 18, 2015 05:24PM
I recently purchased three MR3020 devices and installed PirateBox on each device. They all worked successfully on the first go. Later that day I turned one of them on no one could connec to it over wifi. The network was available to see but no one could connect. I tried changing the mode via the hardware switch a few times and now when I have it on AP mode not even the wifi light is on.

I can connect to it when connected via cable and I go to 192.168.1.1 but can't connect any other way.

Can anyone help with this? It's the same situation with all three devices.

Hi,

Yes, I did remove the USB stick and I soon realised that it needs to be connected to the device to work. d'oh!

I used the same USB stick to install PirateBox on three devices. Does teh same one need to be used or can I swap it for a different one that has the install folder on it?

For anyone else who had problems I found some help talking with the developer here.

I'll summarise some things:

Once you install PirateBox the AP/3G switch ceases to function.

In the end I had to boot into the router in Failsafe Mode. Instructions for this are on the PirateBox website.

The instruction

Set up your of the computer to 192.168.1.2
might be confusing. What is meant by this is (as per this tweet) is that you need to create a connection with a fixed IP address. I'm on Ubuntu and instructions for this can be seen here and here.

Once I was in Failsafe Mode I reinstalled PirateBox and everything worked again.
