I am building a piratebox, I envisioned building a second device with the GL-AR150, will this allow for more users and smoother operation, and better range than the tp-link MR3040?

[stable.openwrt.piratebox.de] ?

How long should the router sit and do that?

yes, but keep in mind to untick "keep settings". If you didn't do that step, the installation is broken and you need to reflash it via command line.

Installation takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on he USB speed.
