I have the PB set with a static IP same as the Network. cannot connect to internet and ping all services. Please note port 80 is open but no web site loads ( I assume the web server has not loaded)

I have a 16GBFAT32 USB2 connected

The communities help is greatly appreciated.

Update

cp: can't create '/mnt/ext/etc/config/minidlna': Input/output error
Is my USB faulty/not good enough ?

Could it cause the issue above?

I always thought it had a slow r/w

IO is always slow :-(
But this looks like a filesystem error., possibly based on a defect block on the USB

And why do you install minidlna by yourself? This should be done by the autoinstaller?!

I really struggled following those instructions. I found the manual instructions much clearer.

I'll try a new USB.

If I start with a fresh USB which instruction shall I restart from?

Thanks for the response.

Hi,
if you want to start from the beginning, you should reflash you box with a fresh copy of the firmware image.

I do not understand, why the manual howot is much clearer. The automatic installation cover 90% of the package installation and the manual instructions are much more cumbersome. *wondering*

It seems you are not installing on the official supported devices, are you?

best regards

I'm installing on an mr3020 the main reason I also opted for the manual instructions is the OTA install. I modified the configured file so it connected to the LAN.

After re reading it I may have over complicated things.

I believe at one point it may have had a different OPENWRT installed. How would I go about re flashing the device with different firmware via CLI

Cheers.

If you reconfigured the LAN interface to be wan, it is pretty easy..

- Login, and switch over to the tmp directory
- download the openwrt firmware
- initiate flash

Language: PHP
cd /tmp wget http://stable.openwrt.piratebox.de/auto/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3020-v1-squashfs-factory.bin sysupgrade -n openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3020-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

There it starts..

OK all went well.
Copied Media to Share on USB.

Media not displayed on DLNA client. I have read it can take a while to display based on amount of media and usb device as it has to build an index.

How long should I have to wait for 15GB of movies?

Ages. And some movies tend to let minidlna crash :-(

It is recommended to use something like handbrake to downsample the videos.

It never seems to crash, the dlna server always seems to be available. I'll just leave it on over night?
