I also have kernel 3.0 right now, but either my card or driver is not working properly. Got some spare routers lying around, but none of them support OpenWRT apparently, so can't use them either. Anyway, I will keep trying no matter what. Nargrenby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Tried everything again. Re-installing with script, live USB version, changing all the settings, but no success. I'll get an openWRT router soon and make it work.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I did change the card name in both files in the first place, unfortunately none of them broadcast an SSID. Integrated card has a driver "wl0" and the external card "r8712u" sudo lshw -C network gives: *-network description: Wireless interface product: BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY vendor: Broadcom Corporation physical id: 0by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, its a HP pavilon laptop and the wifi card is an external card (on Package: Skylink SL-1504n; Ubuntu says: Realtek RTL8191S WLAN Adapter). See here (Internal card is Broadcom BCM4312, but as far as I remember I could change the mode of it with iwconfig) Edit: Just did a quick test see if internal card works, actually it doesn't, everything is the same. Hey everyone! After some downtime I have given another try to install Piratebox to another laptop of mine, running Ubuntu. Following the tutorial step-by-step I have managed to install everything and running the start script gives (including killing some processes before as suggested for ubuntu): network-manager stop/waiting dhclient: no process found dnsmasq: no process found * Startiby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hi, yes whenever I was modifying hostapd.conf, I also did the appropirate changes to piratebox.conf Is it possible hat the nl80211 driver is not supported by my card? In my previous post it was returning a lot of "failed" operations. Output from iw list Wiphy phy0 Band 1: Frequencies: * 2412 MHz [1] (15.0 dBm) * 2417 MHz [2] (15.0 dBm) * 2422 MHz [3] (15by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
All I have in /etc/resolv.conf is # Generated by NetworkManager nameserver 194.168.4.100 nameserver 194.168.8.100 Even though if I modify it, it will be re-generated by Network Manager and it overwrites any change I made to the file. I tried to do it before, but it simply goes back to the above state all the time. The output from sudo hostapd -dd /opt/piratebox/conf/hostapd.confby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Just ran it again to see again, but now wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1b:77:41:b3:35 inet addr:192.168.77.1 Bcast:192.168.77.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::21b:77ff:fe41:b335/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:18297 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:15277 erby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, I was always using sudo to run piratebox, otherwise it won't start at all. The reason I was uning the wlan1 interface is that the buil-in card on wlan0 is an Intel PRO 3945ABG card (iwl3945 driver, I guess) and this doesn't support AP mode as far as I know. However I set it back and ran the ifconfig: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1a:6b:68:c2:cc Uby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, edit previous post QuoteBut I'm still getting no redirect, and in this case PB is not reachable trough "piratebox.lan", only "piratebox". piratebox is available from both addresses; piratebox.lan and piratebox, but still no redirect. Nargrenby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
