Hello, that error is retuned when you try to ssh into a pre-defined host, but the IP address doesn't match/exist on the network. Do you have the host properly configured in your /etc/hosts file? Try, ssh alarm@192.168.1.1 (I'm not sure what is the IP of the raspberry by default, I suspect its 192.168.1.1. Aby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Sorry, I was tired I thought it was the OpenWRT thread. In the case of the Raspberry after mounting the SD card .img file the html files are in /opt/PirateBox/www. Have you tried editing these files? If you have already written the image file to the SD card, then all directories should be openly accessible when you insert the SD card into your computer. There should be 2 partitions in total, tby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Hello, 1. The files are located on the USB drive in the USB/PirateBox/Board/pbIMG_ws.img container file. Guide to open and edit contents: How to create, format and mount .img files (piratebox.cc HowTo) Afterwards the html and css files reside in the /www subdirectory. 2. As far as I know the current implementation of the upload script doesn't allow to upload entire directories.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Alternatively you can simply plug in the USB drive in your computer and delete the files from Piratebix/Shared/by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
USB with 2 male plugs: It is called a "USB Y cable". It is/was used in cases where a device would want to draw more current that possible from a single USB port and therefore wouldn't work properly. With a Y cable you can draw current from 2 separate USB ports. My MR3020 is using about 0.1 A while idle, so powering from a single USB port is fine. Graceful shutdown:You can look aby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Did you manage to solve your problem? Otherwise you can follow the How To piratebox.cc/openwrt:diy,"Upgrade Piratebox". That section assumes that you are already running an older OpenWRT version of the piratebox.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hello, on OpenWRT you have to change the file /etc/config/wireless and then /etc/init.d/network reload More info at https://piratebox.cc/openwrt:modsby Nargren - Mods and Themes
How are you trying to change the SSID? Check here https://piratebox.cc/openwrt:mods This should work without any errors. Is this occuring on a MAC?by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I had an RPi running with pretty much only IRC on it and a 8GB SSD card, sometimes using it as an sh tunnel. the SD card never lasted more than ~200 days before getting corrupted and unusable. tmpfs sounds like a good option, could the chat work with that as well? Also, file upload was previosuly done in chunks and then were combined by droopy and put to a new file (or similar, if I recall coby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box

The USB stick is absolute necessary to run a PirateBox as crucial files are stoed on it. You can either search for it and continue using itor you can rewert to stock TP-Link firmware. The openwrt.org website can help you out http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3040#restoring_original_firmware You can try failsafe mode as well http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3040#failsafe_modeby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
I have learned something new today, thanks for sharing that! However, PirateBox is offline. It is in no way connected to the internet as a basic principle.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hello, basically what you said is true. A RPi is more versatile, it has a much stronger CPU, more storage on the SD card (ok you can install on the USB with a router as well) so you can tinker more with it, install additional services, perhaps have more connections. A small router like the MR3020 on the other hand is easy to set up and it just works. If you cut the power to it for any reasoby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I didn't really understand what you meant "stream from devices". But with the RPi and a connected webcam you can use something like mjpg-streamer. Look into e.g. http://www.slblabs.com/2012/09/26/rpi-webcam-stream/ If it's going through the internet or just WiFi, I am not sure if it makes a difference. I'd say probably not.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey! Nice job well done! enjoy your piratebox. Regarding changigng SSID ad others check out http://piratebox.cc/openwrt:mods. The range of the MR3020 was around 10-15 metres for me with 1 blocking wall. So expect a range in that magnitude.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt

Have you copied all the contents of the USB? make sure the .img file is also there. What file format has the new USB? Make it FAT32by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, in linux I would do it like this, however I am not sure how it works in mac.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hey, are you using an MR3020? Are you accessing the router via ethernet cable? Can you also post the outputs of cat /etc/config/network cat /etc/config/wireless cat /mnt/usb/install.log (Simply copy codes into the terminal window and post results)by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt

Hey, there are implementations for meshed PB networks and tests were also done, it works on a beta level. The major problem is that there is only 1 wifi chip per (cheap) device which means that running AP mode (client connections) + an ad-hoc network (box-to-box connection) reduces transfer rates by a lot. You can read about this test feature here: http://piratebox.aod-rpg.de/dokuwiki/doku.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, if you forgot to plug in the USB during install ( ) - that is openWRT is installed, but PB install failed - you can continue the installation with the Upgrade PiratBox from piratebox.cc. What this does, it essentially re-installs the new version of PB. Since you don't have an old version, this will be the first install, but should give the same end results.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, what kind of wifi dongle are you using? Seems like it tries to set up wlan0, maybe your device is wlan1?by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
There were some tryouts but currently it is not officially supported. You can have a look at here: http://piratebox.aod-rpg.de.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Awesome thread! Nice workby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hello, What device are you using? The MR3020 is used by many people so it has enough place to install all necessary packages for sure. If in doubt about errors, too many changes you have made, you can simply reformat the USB and Upgrade you piratebox, as per written in the same DIY in the Upgrade Piratebox.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hey, yes the default SSID should come up if you finish the installation. Did you go through all the steps of the installation guide? As for post-installation steps, you simply have to follow the guide and copy-paste the commands to the terminal from http://piratebox.cc/openwrt:diy Could you post the outputs of cat /etc/config/wireless cat /mnt/usb/install.logby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hey, I personally also have a sandisk cruzer fit, also 16GB and it runs perfectly with my MR3020. Cannot comment on MR3040. I would suggest you reformat the drive and start again with the installation (simply do the PitrateBox Uprgrade as you already have OpenWRT installed). Are you sure the installation finished completely? There is read errors of course in the output, no idea why. mayby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
