Hey, any address typed to the browser redirects to the piratebox automatically. So if you type www.example.com, you will be redirected to the landing page. Unfortunately this does not apply to https:// addresses, as these cannot be redirected.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Try telnet again and see if it works, maybe the password wasn't set correctly. If not, use Failsafe mode to recover the router and reset the password.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Yes, simply copy e.g. dmesg | tail and other codes to the terminal and post us the output.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Https sites are not redirected, that is an issue currently. Also cached websites may cause a problem.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Are you visiting an https website? Currently PB cannot forward from https sites, so if you refresh e.g. https:// xyz.com in your browser after you connected to PB, it won't redirect. This is an issue being investigated.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hello Text Editor Regarding vi, you only need to learn a few key combinations, after that it is just a normal text editor. However you can install something more sophisticated like nano. opkg install nano or if you get a "not enough space error" opkg install -d ext nano Change SSID http://piratebox.cc/openwrt:mods Edit HTML Yes the files are packet into the .img file onby Nargren - PirateBox (General)

There are some pictures in the forums here, some with short descriptions and stories. Also there are people discussing what they have on their boxes to share, maybe you can get an idea of it like that. Or you can always build your own and experimentby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I think there were some tries do do a map of pirateboxes available, but it was not an app, simply a website. I just found this for example: Although since its a French site, it shows mostly French boxes. There might be some other people from other parts of the world who did something similar.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hello. Yes it is possible, (in the local network). After uploading a video, it can be found in the Shared folder and most browsers actually prefer to stream the video instead of downloading by default. Depending on the file type as well, of course. Also on the latest version there is an UPnP Media server option available as well. If you only want to stream one specific video, you can emby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey You need to create a shell script which contains the 1. PATH PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin 2. Library extensions LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib and then calls your python script. Refer to UPnP Media Server on the PirateBox Make sure the script is executable and then exchange your python script for the new shell script in crontabby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
run mount_root in the guide means: run the command: mount_root and not run mount_root This will let you set the password afterwards. Also note that in the first 11 steps you dont need internet connection, so do the configuration from your computer, directly attached to the router. After that you need to attach it to your home router. As per explained in the guide.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
The php5 install is likely to fail because there is not enough space left on the router itself. What is the error message? You will possibly need to install it with opkg -d piratebox install php5 to specify installation location on the mounted USB partition. Please see http://piratebox.aod-rpg.de/dokuwiki/doku.php/modifications/lighttpd_051#php_for_pirateboxby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
So to clarify: You want the PB to be plugged in to your home router via ethernet and allow internet access to it, but the clients shouldn't be able to reach the internet. Is that it? If so, why should the PB connected to the internet (this is not what it was really made for)? Check out this link: http://forum.daviddarts.com/read.php?2,3820,page=2 Generally to allow internet accessby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
So you are at the step where you flashed OpenWRT on the router, but can't connect to it, correct? In the guide you are using note that until step 11 the router has to be plugged directly into your computer. So connect the OpenWRT router to your Win7 desktop with an ethernet cable (not through your home router). Try to TELNET (make sure it is telnet, ssh wont work until you set a passwordby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hello. If you remove the Piratebox package from the router, you won't see the wifi, because the software isn't present. Why did you remove the Piratebox package if you would like to further use it? What is your aim? Do you want to a clean OpenWRT router or do you want your piratebox back? Also, which version of the piratebox did you have installed / want back? First of all, trby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
I am not sure if you can attach a USB webcam to an MR3020 for example, simply because of power usage reasons. You might need a powered USB hub to do this. However there is a guide for the Raspberry Pi I was looking at recently: http://iqjar.com/jar/live-stream-from-your-raspberry-pi/ This would give you a video stream you coukd watch in a web browser when on the PB network. On OpenWRT it mby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hello gymfw, I am not familiar with live streaming software and solutions, however note that PirateBox is an anonymous, offline file-sharing and chat solution. It is not connected to the internet. I assume you mean "live stream" as stream over the internet, but could you please be more specific? Without internet connection the most you could do is stream something "live"by Nargren - PirateBox (General)

Talking to MaStr the other day he mentioned that the issue is most likely be caused during copying in that the file permissions are not preserved. He suggested using cp -pr /src/* /target/ to copy the file, so that the permissions remain. You can try to copy the file again to the USB.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hello Yes it sounds like a file permission issue. Did you do: sudo chmod 777 file.img ? It should solve the issue. (it did for me)by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
The idea s good, the simpler the installer, the better. QuoteMatthias ...preinstall upnpmedia-server and/or imageboard in one package... Do you mean that these 2 services would automatically install during the automated installer, or that they would be in 1 package and could only be installed together, but after the initial installation? I think this is a good idea, but as @documentally mentioned, only a "starter pack". Maybe some smaller text files about the project / privacy etc. in general, few songs and such would be nice. It would definitely help to give people an idea and some starting files to share. Also it would show that we are not promoting the sharing of copyrighted material, but the free culture. Hey chuckleberryfinn! There is some statistical data from Pirate's Parrot regarding the power consumption of an MR3020 forum.daviddarts.com. Which is not the same router, but probably comparable. It drains about 80-120 mA when idle, so at optimum sunlight you could generate excess electricity with the solar panel and charge the battery, in theory. However, its rather small, putting outby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Phantom 83 do you want a fully functional second usb drive OR just copy some of the files to an empty usb drive? Currently through the PirateBox UI it is not possible to move files, but of course, if you are logged in through SSH you can move files around. Though this is in OpenWRT. You could have a separate page with this copy function where you could execute a shell script though htmlby Nargren - PirateBox (General)

Sorry I'm abroad and not checking the forums too often. I don't remember the 2 factor internet access verification process. I think after I made the changes, my windows machine just said it is connected to the internet. Hello! Yes I talked with MaStr a good while ago about this. If I remember correctly, if you make the IP of resolve to localhost on the PB and then create the ncsi.txt file with the single line in it (I think in the www directory of the P then Windows is tricked into thinking that the PirateBox AP has internet. Hence it will not display any error messages on the tray etc. I have alreadyby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
