Hello! I think "Invalid cross-device link" usually refers to an event when you are trying to hard-link 2 folders form different partitions or drives. Did you use "ln"? Try a symbolic link with "ln -s"by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Sorry misread your issue, I though you already had the PB installed. My bad.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hey! Your IP settings look OK, I think you should try /etc/init.d/piratebox nodns and try again pinging google. Sometimes this helps to disable dns handling by the PB and allows reaching the internet.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Yes that would have been the other solution to change your home router's IP. I didn't suggest this to start with as I wanted to leave your home network untouched. If you are happy with changing your gateway's IP, that is fine as well. But it is the same principle, the piratebox AND the internet access point have to share a common 3 first tags of the local IP address, aka only beby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hello! The default IP address of the PirateBox after install is 192.168.1.1. So if your home router is 192.168.2.1 then it is not on the same subnet as your PirateBox. You should change the IP of your PirateBox (temporarily) to 192.168.2.111 (really 192.168.2.x) and make sure the gateway option is 192.168.2.1 You can check the official guide again, there is the same setup as yours with tby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt

Hello, you can find the official guide here: http://daviddarts.com/piratebox-diy-openwrt/ And some Useful Links here on the forums. This should help you to build your PB.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I was away for the weekend, just checked and yes, got a 7805 . The 2V drop sounds about right according to data sheet. Will need to look for another solution.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
If the box doesn't give you an IP address, you should try setting up a static IP for your computer and then try failsafe mode.by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
SuriRaven, thanks for the info on voltage regulators. I have just bought 2x6V batteries and solar panels (power is my thing as well) and also got some 5V regulators (chep ones, only ones I could find). I'll see what voltage drop they have and if I can build a USB power cord for my MR3020. However, I will definitely look into switching regulators as it sounds interesting/promising!by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Did you manage to restore your MR3020 after the short chat on IRC?by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Hey, thank you for the nice description and info! Good to know that the router is not draining 1A at 5V, but only a fraction of it (I think this was given on the TPlink website). Makes much more sense with the battery packs and reported hours of power from other users. Do you know the efficiency of the cigarette lighter to USB adapter? I suspect it might just be using a 5V regulator as wby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
mp, usually IP settings cause the most trouble. Can you please post the contents of your /etc/config/network and the address of your home (internet access) router?by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt

Nice box there. With the appropriate lid it sure will be all-weather proof! However, its kind of tigh as only a small fit USB would do, no? Maybe an elbow-bend USB external HDD could be squeezed in there as well. Its also a very good disguise, electrical switchboxby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
I can't seem to open the images. Is it just me or are the link broken?by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Quotealleybeach alright! sweet, Im in! haha. so is it ok to have the PB's IP address 192.168.1.1 while i try to ssh into it? Sure. IP addresses only become an issue when your home router has the same address and you want your PB to reach the internet. For simply running the PB it perfect. Quotealleybeach so i have a PB running now! however, i cant get the image board running though. sayby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Changing to static IP in Ubuntu: [*] Click on the wifi icon in the top menu bar [*] Select "wired" connection and edit [*] Go to "IPv4 Settings" tab and set the method for manual with the following: -address: 192.168.1.2 -netmask: 255.255.255.0 -gateway: 192.168.2.1 -DNS server: 8.8.8.8 After this connect your ethernet cable to your PB. EatButtons The "Browse Files" option on the PirateBox UI opens the /opt/piratebox/www/Shared folder by default, which is linked to /opt/piratebox/share/Shared (that is where the files are stored by default). Since you are using a USB drive your storage locaation will be different. Do you have a link between /opt/piratebox/www/Shared and /media//share/Shared ? If the fileby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
alleybeach, what new settings did you imply? Please note that telnet will not work after you have set a password, only SSH. If you have changed "option ipaddr" in /etc/config/network then you should use that address for SSH. How far can you get with https://github.com/MaStr/mkPirateBox/wiki/Recover-in-Failsafe-mode? Z In your case (based on the pics you linked), 192.168.1.1 is your home router (option gateway ! ) 192.168.1.x any device connected to your home network 192.168.2.111 is the address of the PirateBox (hence you have to ssh to this address for login) 192.168.2.x any address the PirateBox gives in the network ___________________________________________________ It is advised to change tby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
Recovering in Failsafe mode can help in most cases. Give it a try if you cannot log in any other way. If you are in, try to "undo" the recent changes you did. Maybe you'd be better of with a clean install and starting from the beginningby Nargren - PirateBox (General)
So is it working now, did you manage to get it after disabling dns?by Nargren - PirateBox (General)
Congratulations! I'm happy it workedby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Hello, it is likely an issue with setting the wifi dongle into AP mode (creating a wifi access point). *Luckily*, at least in theory it is possible to make it work on the RPi! http://blog.sip2serve.com/post/38010690418/raspberry-pi-access-point-using-rtl8192cu This is a short guide someone made with a wifi dongle that uses the same RTl8192cu Chipset as your card. What I meant with "reinstall firmware" was related to the official firmware of the MR3020. The version of your MR3020 is labelled on the bottom of it's original box. I though you want to remove OpenWRT and get back the original TP-LINK firmware? What is your issue exactly? What and why do you want to do it? Do you want a latest version of PirateBox or you want a clean TP_LINK sby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
(As per OpenWRT Wiki that firmware was only tested on MR3020 ver 1.4. What version is your MR3020? Make sure it's the right firmware you use.) If you want to reinstall the original firmware and you have piratebox running on your router then first you need to stop piratebox service: /etc/init.d/piratebox stop after this you should be able to ping google and proceed with the guide.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
If you have just bough it recently, and you would have no use for it, you should look into returning it. Most shops have to accept returns within a specified time (I think 7 days in the EU) without any questions asked. I have an MR3020 model ver 1.6 and it works. In the Piratebox Camp over the weekend we have installed a few MR3020 ver. 1.8's with PirateBox and they worked as well. I thiby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
