Has anyone tried adding an external antenna to an MR-3040?

So far, these are the only original sources that mention or outline adding an external antenna to the MR-3040:

However, the last comment says that the device "has since died," and the comment before that says this "approach is plain wrong."



I saw a few minor mentions on this forum about external antennas, but mostly for the MR-3020.



My question is: Has anyone else successfully tried this? I see a few mentions of doing so in various places online (such as above) but they do not go into great detail/not very thorough, and I have not been able to talk to anyone who has done this modification specifically themselves.

yes u can u need to do some soldering on the board. buy a RP-SMA antenna cable cut the end off (not the one with the connector on it) and solder it to the board.
