Piratebox with TP-Link TL-MR3420
August 08, 2011 03:27PM
Hi,

I want to setup a pirate box using TP-Link TL-MR3420, a low cost router wich is available in brazilians stores. This router have Atheros AR7241@400MHz, 32MiB of ram, 4MiB of flash memory and a usb 2.0 port. Anyone have any experience using this router?

Probably is compatible with open-WRT:

[wiki.openwrt.org]

First, I'll setup the box using a normal power source (the cord). Then I'll go researching means to supply power with rechargeble batteries (power source is 12W, 12V -- 1A)

I plan buy this router this week and install the software (openWRTfirmware + ipk piratebox package).

Let us know how it goes. I haven't been able to get it to work on the router Pirate Box recommends so, I don't know how far you'll get.

I successfull setup a pirate box but using a similar router: TL-WR1043ND.

Installation procedures:

1) flash router with open-WRT firmware using web interface
firmware: [downloads.openwrt.org]

2) login via ssh and install mkpiratebox package following the instructions:
[wiki.daviddarts.com]

The installation works fine.
