Can't edit files & editing files on different computer.

EDIT: I have a more pressing matter, I'm using 1.1.4 for the PI zero, and I cant edit files, every time I try to same it it says that i cant write to the file. I'm logged in as alarm and it wont let me log in as root. con some one please help me with this.

I'm trying to tinker around with the HTML files for the pitratebox.lan, I know where to find them but how to I take them form the PI(rate)box and edit them on my main computer using my preferred text editor (atom). I know that I can use nano straight from the terminal window but its just easier for me to navigate using something else.

You need to use the command "sudo" or better (for complete switching) "su" to get access as root.
Root is disabled per SSH for security reasons.
