Shutting down the PB?
September 12, 2015 09:21AM
Hi,

I'm using some MR3020 PBs regularly. I also set up and distributed some 50 PBs to students and teachers all over Italy.

Wondering if it could be safer to shutdown the box via ssh and the halt command, instead of simply switching the power off. Especially when, for instance, in a conference, a lot of people are still connected but I have to take my box away: could it be a danger of getting the USB file system corrupted?

Hi,
yes there is a danger of a filesystem corruption, but OpenWrt does not have a proper halt command. You can try to do a normal "reboot" (like the command) and after the lights turn off and on again, power it off. That is the safest way.

50 PirateBoxes - wow grinning smiley thumbs up
