TP-Link MR3020 v1.8 - no more access
May 12, 2013 04:39PM
Hi all,
Since I'm new in here - and not familiar with OpenWrt yet - I'm doing my tests with the original firmware on my new MR3020. It has version v1.8 - got it last week.

Yesterday I upgraded the firmware the latest version (to version "mr3020nv1_en_3_15_2_up_boot(130326).bin" dated March 26. 2013)
I did this as a last resort to solve my connection issue with a wireless Panasonic Network camera.

Since I did this firmware upgrade, I'm not able to access to MR3020 anymore via 192.168.0.254:8080 via the WebGUI. Simply there is no response - also not when pinging.
The MR3020 still works - at least the AP mode still runs fine, I can access the internet using the wireless AP on the MR3020.

Can anyone suggest me what to do - or how to solve?

I tried the failsafe mode - and getting the WPS LED flashing fast - and using 192.168.1.1, however no no response when pinging.(I'm not sure whether failsafe just works with OpenWrt anyway)

Thanks for any help.

John

ADD-ON:

When I'm trying to use WISP mode - I can ping 192.168.0.254 - but still no access via WebGUI :

Johncoffees-MacBook-Air:~ jc$ ping 192.168.0.254
PING 192.168.0.254 (192.168.0.254): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=3.860 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=3.114 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=24.235 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=3.040 ms
^Z

Telnet - not sure what command I can set.

are we talking about the original TP-Link image?
Why do you think, that upgrading the firmware solves some completly different issue ? winking smiley

Hi Matthias,

Yes - the original firmware image.

I know - stupid me. Shouldn't have done the 'upgrade'.

at first, I don't think using 192.168.1.1 is useful on original firmware.

Refering to this: [uk.tp-link.com]

you still should try 192.168.0.254

Is you Computer configured with a static IP like 192.168.0.253 and connected via ethernet cable?
In such cases it is very useful to ensure static conditions for further tests.

did switching the mode-switch help?

WPS/RESET: To use WPS function, please push the button for less than 5 seconds, and
then the WPS LED will flash; to reset the router, please push the button for at
least 10 seconds.

Thanks for your reply Matthias,

192.168.0.254 is just accessible for me (pinging ) when using WIPS mode with the selector switch. Just ping works here - no access to the internet and no reply when connecting to the Web interface via 192.168.0.254.

But I'll use a static connection when I'm at home with 192.168.0.253 and ethernet to see whether this works.

Will keep you post.

Thanks
John

Matthias,

just did now a direct ethernet connection using 192.168.0.253 / 255.255.255.0 on my Mac - connected directly to the MR3020.

I can ping it:

ohncoffees-MacBook-Air:~ jc$ ping 192.168.0.254
PING 192.168.0.254 (192.168.0.254): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.590 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.544 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.600 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.587 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.0.254: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.638 ms

..but nothing when using my browser when entering 192.168.0.254

Whats next - do you have any suggestion ?

Thanks and best regards
John

Jeez. Got it back working... by changing the browser. Firefox opened 192.168.0.254 with the admin/password pulldown. Entering admin/admin and the normal WebGUI window opened correct.
Reason fpr Safari not to work was probably the wrong admin/password after flashing the new firmware. But what I didn't expect is that Safari would display a connection error window - which looks like there is no connection to the MR3020.

.... Thanks Matthias for your help ... I appreciate your swift response.

Cheers
John

Try ipconfig check for default ip address that should take you to router home page
Also try with both Wi-Fi and Rj45 mode.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi,
