I returned the siig2400 and bought the energizer xr4001 which is 4400MAh. My testing is not scientific with calculations based on rated specs. I merely charge the battery fully the night before and let it run all day at work. The siig crapped out before I left work for the day. The energizer ran for over 12 hours. This is all done with no load.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Cafeen, I like the news stand idea but they are usually metal. The fake rock idea is awesome. Now to include a GPS tracker just in case.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
I got a good 100+ ' of range in our building through walls and the whatnot. My coworker downstairs and 1/2 a building away was able to find the signal.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
I think I got lucky and remembered what IP I assigned to the MR.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Tried the SIIG 2400 and it barely lasted 8 hours with no traffic. Cost $30 Recommended? - no On a side note, we should get a script written to test and benchmark the battery life. Something like, open webpage, upload file (4MB or whatever), close web page, wait 2 minutes, do it again. Then check the log and see when it finally could not connect anymore.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
I'm looking for creative ideas on how to hide your piratebox for 16-24 hours. I've seen the "PirateBox" book where the owner cut out the insides of a book to accomodate the router, power supply and cabling. I was thinking of hiding the box as a fire alarm, potted plant (just don't water). Magnet hidden to a pipe or metalic object of some type. Hidden under a bby socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Finally got it working shortly after I posted my last message. Now I'm on to hiding it in a spot where people will use is. 64GB of space is a LOT of room for uploads. On a brighter note, I found an energizer 4000MAh rechargable battery on clearance at Target for $30by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Finally got back into my MR3020. There seems to be a severe lag between when I plug in the network and when I can finally SSH to it. Now that I'm back in, I think I finally understand the issue. My home router is as follows: IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.13(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.1 DHCPby socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Back to being bricked again. Not sure why this time. Never connected to the device via wifi and was on step 14 on my netgear router. Still could not SSH to the box while connected to the router and now, I cannot ssh or telnet while plugged into my mac. Somehow I always seem to find the problems with doing these types of things. If it can be broken, I find a way to do it. Any words ofby socaladam - PirateBox (General)
@caretu - Thanks! I ssh'd perfectly and now I'm in the process of finishing the job. @creighto - Got it. I'll be certain not to connect until the box is complete.by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
Tried to SSH into the box and could not connect. Removed this from my network and pluged it back into my laptop and cannot telnet or http to it. telnet to 192.168.0.254 fails browser to 192.168.1.1 fails Any chance on getting this working again? Or have I made a $40 effup... Thanks!by socaladam - PirateBox (General)
