Pi(rate) Box manual install issue?

So I've got my pi running the pirate box system without error.
however, I'm not able to connect to it via ssh or seeing a wifi connection of it.
How do I get the wifi to be viewable or the ssh to succeed?

What kind of WiFi stick do you have attached?
Please post the output of

sudo iw list

If this has no ouput, please post the output of

dmesg | grep usb

I'm currently using the Edimax Nano USB WiFi adapter (EW-7811Un) and am now attempting to follow the installation instructions for that. if this fails to accomplish anything, I'll be posting back.
