Make PirateBox more suitable for Schools
June 29, 2019 08:00AM
I currently use LibraryBox in my schools library to share magazines/pdf,ebooks,video and audio resources. The reason why I use LibraryBox is that students(and not just students) are prevent from adding their own content. At the moment the LibraryBox is installed on a TP 3020 that is starting to have issues. At the moment LibraryBox does not work on the Raspberry Pi.

Is it possible to make PirateBox READ only on the Shared Folder and the content has to be loaded from a PC by plugging the USB into a PC.

At the moment I have 40 Raspberry Pi 4s on order and want to use 2 or 3 of these to act as a LibraryBox type system in my school using a modified version of PirateBox.

You could probably do something using my own IPFS-based piratebox image? There's a single configuration option you can change that will render it read-only, but you can still connect to it via SSH to copy over new data. It'll host whole websites and directories too, not just individual files.
