Extending storage capabilities
April 10, 2012 03:16AM
Hey,

I want to set up a pirate-box with some decent storage capabilities. I was wondering if there was a way to hook up a decent external USB powered HDD instead of a flashdrive. We want to use it as a secret place for people to share anime. ^^

Sorry in advance for my question if its nooby.

Look here.

We are currently trying to figure out what is needed.

Some people have had success as far as I can tell. Make sure you format your HDD in FAT32. You will need to find a modded formatter online somewhere to get partitions larger that 32Gb. Just in the end, make sure it is FAT32 formatted with one partition.

Depending on which router you use, you may or may not need a self powered HDD.

Also, if you are trying this out here is a tip. If you cannot install piratebox to your HDD, just install it to any flashdrive then copy */piratebox/ from your flashdrive to your HDD. This will make it compatible and hopefully work for you.
