Piratebox 0.5.1 - iOS Captive Portal Issues - 12 years ago

Hey PBers! I finally got the chance to install the last version of PB including the imageboard and it is pretty much all running well. I seem to be having issues with iOS devices getting stuck at the captive portal. After connecting via wifi the page automatically comes up in the restricted "Log in" version of Safari. I've tried reinstalling the entire PB with no luck.

Hi all, I've finally got a new MR3020 and have uploaded the new PB, including the new imageboard hooray. I've only got one small bug, iOS devices are having Captive Portal issues. Was this issued solved with this version of PB or do I need to upgrade the img as per http://forum.daviddarts.com/read.php?2,2887 According to 'cat /opt/piratebox/version' I have: piratebox

Ha ha! Of course. Probably a good idea I check before potential brickage. Especially considering there have been some issues with entering failsafe for some on this device. Will keep you all posted. Cheers, Dr H

Yeah I found this link on the openwrt forum. According to one user it was successfully used back in January. Do you think it'll still work?

Made some more progress tonight. I got an icecast server and an encoder called ezstream running from command line in crunchbang linux / Debian. Now that I know how that works I will start trying it in a PB. Thinking about getting a tl-mr3220 so it's got a bit more range. Exciting!

I've been trying to get a shoutcast encoder and server running on my wee asus netbook running crunchbang and ubuntu but with no luck. I think crunchbang has issues with the sound encoders and my netbook gets closer with ubuntu but is strugglin

With the image on the mainpage you could either delete or replace the image here: /opt/piratebox/src/piratebox-logo-small.png You can make changes to the chat box text in these files: /opt/piratebox/chat/index.html /opt/piratebox/chat/cgi-bin/data.pso - chatbox name /opt/piratebox/chat/cgi-bin/style.css - chat css Good luck!

Hey Krazipanda, You can change the name of your PB by SSH'ing into your PB and editing the wireless file via vi. For example: vi /etc/config/wireless Any questions just ask. Peace, Dr H

Hey PBers! I just saw this small android / Linux computer in the vain of raspberry pi come online. USB flash drive not recognised by computer - 12 years ago

Sup PB'ers! I've made a PB for a musician friend who is using his box to share his music at his gigs. It's been getting HEAPS of use and is starting to fill up with all sorts of music really quickly. Totally, it would be cool if it could be hosted off the actual device. I guess you could use an icecast server. It could potentially play the mp3s uploaded to the flash drive in order or shuffled. You could make it an option when you install it like how you already have the option to install file sharing or file sharing and chat. Although it's beyond my skill level. Is there anyon

I cracked it! Pirate Radio on the PirateBox!!! So this is how you do it, Mac OSX only unfortunately... 1. Connect to your PirateBox via wifi. 2. Open the program Nicecast or any other program that can host a local shoutcast stream server 3. Set server to 'Built in server' 4. Set the network address and port (aka IP) to the same IP as your computer. Mine was 192.168.1.27 port 8

You can stream shoutcast over a local network. If there was enough processing power to stream how would you got about port forwarding? You can host the shoutcast server on a computer connected to the box.

Good work on the video Matthias. Might be a good idea to mention in the details below the video about changing your computer IP to 192.168.1.2 - that was the step that caught me out.

So after I figure out failsafe mode I found what the problem was... I'd left out a ' in the network file... Classic coding error

I haven't been able to boot it into failsafe. I've tried holding the physical button and tapping it for a minute but neither seems to work. Any tips?
