Looks good, Ando. I like the blue. winking smiley

Here are some pictures of mine:

I'd like to put an antenna on it eventually, and adding a larger harddrive (there's just a 4gb in it right now). I also have a solar panel I might put on it but I figured I probably won't be using it outside much to begin with.

Check out more pictures on my blog.

Trying more custom cables tonight, I will take some pics for here soon. For any one that has a really small box, this is one option for Ethernet out... I am making a 9pin serial to Ethernet cable, and using a panel mount serial to a modded ethernet port. This will make more sense with pics

This is the setup I have for my dorm. Hopefully I am able to reach out to numerous users within the dorm. No need for it to be portable atm.

Here's my LiveCD version of PirateBox (Pre-Release) running on a laptop and SD card smileys with beer Also notice it's running PirateBoxManager and it booted in 3 minutes and was fully running right away (STILL waiting on my TPLink so that's why I've been developing the Laptop version)

^ Actual picture of my computer running it

^ Screenshot of PirateBoxLive (Pre-Beta)

^ One command is all that you will need

^ Splash of PirateBoxManager (0.8.2)

^ Works by default on both mobile and laptops

^ dnsmasq works very well

^ Chat works on mobile grinning smiley

^ I ran option 4 and added PirateBoxManager to the share folder

^ Look at that there it is

^ There it is downloaded

^ Clearing works well too smileys with beer

More to come smiling smiley

Also I have a phone call >grinning smiley<

I am now completely portable, I have loaded up the 8gb SanDisk and will be sharing on the bus and at the office, of course no one will know its me.

The Emergency Charger outputs 500mah but the signal is still great from the 703n I have a couple of 2500mah batteries in the charger, so can charge them up nightly.

So, let me introduce you my piratebox.

TP-link WR703N
SanDisk cruzer 16GB
A-solar Solar Charger with 1.800 mAh

No enclosure at the moment, but I plan on putting my box inside the book shown on the pictures. It's a manual from school, but since they are throwing it away this year because school's program change there is no point in giving them back.

Here is the picture.

Low profile MicroSD/USB plug. Seems to get about 6 hours off that battery.

It's also got cute googly eyes- means it can't be anything bad:-)
Googly eyes, nice touch!

Hey Lulzcatz!

Here is a preview of the PirateBox landing page I'm working on!

I'm calling it: Starlifter PBS (PirateBoxSystem).

It uses a jQuery Slider as well!

I just finished my battery pack tonight. The store I was at had a ten AA pack instead of the eight, so I'm hoping I get a little more life out of this one. So far everything works good. Oh, and the Hello Kitty sticker? Well, about that, it was the only way I could convince my girlfriend that it wasn't stupid.

My PB was set up for lowest cost and maximum horsepower. So, it's not as pretty as some of the nice ones posted on here. I used mostly waht I had lying around plus a few cheap things from the Goodwill.

My setup is a 930mhz AMD Duron tower with 512mb RAM and a 140gb disk space. I installed Ubuntu with no gui on the box and installed PB there.
It's wired directly into my hacked Linksys WRT54G router running DD-WRT. The router has had a heatsink and a fan added to it so I can up the power. Currently it's running at 175mw, giving me a range of at least 300m (about 1000 feet). I can see the signal out to 450m (about 1500 feet), but my laptop won't connect to it beyond that 300m radius. The machine is currently installed in a space I rent on a university campus in downtown. Being at a university, I'm betting I'll be getting a lot of interesting traffic.

The pics aren't great, but here's my setup. Enjoy!

1) The tower tucked away

2) Sticker on the case

3) View of the router and it's 80mm fan. Plus you can see the courtyard 4 stories down.

4) Closer view of the Linksys. Sorry it's blurry sad smiley

5) It lives! Here's PB in Firefox on my laptop running Kubuntu.

The whole gallery here.

My second one will be for my apartment building. It'll be a lot smaller and prettier, I promise!

The RNC was cancelled today, but tomorrow this guy will be there.

UPDATE: Here it is in the RNC. I built two of these. They were sponsored by individuals, and I'll be sending it to them afterward with all the files and everything.

This is my PirateBox on my fifth story rooftop in Egypt. It's using a TP-Link access point with a high gain antenna to get better distance. Today I put it inside an electrical junction box; it used to be sitting on a table in the nearby room. The memory stick is 32gb.
