I currently use LibraryBox in my schools library to share magazines/pdf,ebooks,video and audio resources. The reason why I use LibraryBox is that students(and not just students) are prevent from adding their own content. At the moment the LibraryBox is installed on a TP 3020 that is starting to have issues. At the moment LibraryBox does not work on the Raspberry Pi. Has anybody used the PB with QR codes. Want to set up a PB for students to use to access resources. The "simple idea" would be students Use their mobiles to scan a QR code and then be directed to the PB folder with the document they need.by dragon - PirateBox (General)
I noticed in the build/post installation there is a lot of instructions for using PUTTY/SSH and other such magic spells and incantations! Can it be memtioned that you can simply use the standard CLI of the RP when it is connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The instructions appear on the screen and you simply follow them one after another. The only problem I had was trying to use theby dragon - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
If my new RP3+ arrives in the next few days I will give the PB a go.by dragon - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
This could be a foundation of an interesting PB, a 300GB HD attached to a RP Zero W with built in WiFi and Bluetooth. Or is it a RP Zero with an attached HD?by dragon - PirateBox (General)
Mine is in the UK Postal System to my address in Sheffield, unfortunately I am living and working in Shanghai so will not be able to get my hands on it till July I will be ordering 1 a month till I have a few in stock, going to be turning all my old LCD TV screens into SMART TVs with one of these little Zero W plugged into the back running Kodi/VLC. Looks like my dream has come true and not only for making a PB The Raspberry Pi Zero W now has added Bluetooth and WiFi built in so no need for extra bits hanging on a USB C! Must be a perfect match for all PB builds now. Price nor to bad at just under 10 UK Pounds for the bare bone board.by dragon - PirateBox (General)
Hi Matthias, I wish I had the computer room resources, the time and experience to set up the PR3 as you suggested. We only got a Synology NAS drive to save students files on 6 weeks ago, so students just getting use to Mapping Network Drives is a stretch never mind FTP! I am seriously looking at building a computer room/lab at school based on using Raspberry Pi3 and PiNet, so a complete brby dragon - PirateBox OpenWrt
I am using the same hardware (WR703n Chinese firmware flashed to MR3020 firmware) and USB drive and firmware with no problems. Reading your post I notice that you changed the password using PuTTY, I changed the password using Telnet from a Windows 10 PC and then having to use PuTTY to continue the post installation instructions.by dragon - PirateBox OpenWrt
Issue easily fix as mentioned. The situation happened when I removed the USB from the piratebox to edit the HTML using a PC. This allowed the piratebox webpage to access the internet and access the outside world and connect to the adult content! It just came as a bit of a shock and good job I bit not have my video projector switched on for the whole world to see in my classroom. I still havby dragon - PirateBox OpenWrt
I can fix the issue by changing the name of the hyperlink and file that launches the 2chan.net message services, so it does not match the adult content web page. Now all I have to do is remove the spam list file so I bunch of teenage boys don't get a list of site to LOOK AT on the internet. I must point out that I am a school teacher using piratebox to show students how to programme and use computers for something more then playing Minecraft. While picking my way into the HTML files I found a link that is taking me to an "adult content" webpage. FIXED My MISTAKE was using the command line in PuTTY as I just cut and paste from the instructions on the webpage. ssh root@192.168.1.1 Using PuTTY it should just read as below, it is already by default using SSH so no need to include it! root@192.168.1.by dragon - PirateBox OpenWrt
Hi all, I have taken a WR703n and loaded the MR3020 English firmware. I reached the SSH connection part of the instructions but could not enter my password created in the Telnet part. I think I am running PB 1.1 but when I view the Raspberry Pi 3 on a monitor it says version 1.0.7 on the header text. So I will be running PB 1.1 (I hope) from now on, all working. I tried this post out and it works in changinging the broadcast wifi name, I changed mine to "ShareBox". Just waiting for my Wipi to arrive so I can use my Zero to build a Piratebox. I was going to use the Mod the expand the SD card and now I know it works there will be no stopping me now. Should be able to fit a working PirateBox into a match box!!! ><by dragon - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Well I am using the Piratebox and other such projects on the Raspberry Pi with students in my school for a computer club. All I can say Matthias is your work is an inspiration to the next generation of real "Hackers" soon to hit the world.by dragon - PirateBox (General)
I would just go with the onboard wifi the RP3 has already as it works very well. Some of the chips inside USB wfi sticks are very cheap and nasty. They work fine to give you an network connection but they are not very good for use as an AP, how many people will be using them for a pirate box setup. I teach HTML to my students the old fashioned way, using notepad as the text editor. So I should be able to hack some of the homepage to what I need. I look forward to PirateBox 1.1 I have just been running the Rasp Pi 3 with PB and it has been working perfectly for 24hrs using a 2500mAh battery pack and 175PDF Magazines loaded onto the memory stick. Hi All, Got my new Rasp Pi3 working no problems over the weekend so just playing with the setup in my junk room. Would like to use this in my classroom(high school comp studies teacher) but the graphics and wording of the homepage are not suitable for use within my college environment. Would also like to give this to some of my students for an ECA project after we finish our little Pi3 cluby dragon - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
