Hi, do you have administrator rights on the school's router? This would include changing the settings on the primary router.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Hi, you mean you absolutely cannot connect to the box, you get no IP from it? I am not sure what could be wrong, this is not really enough information to go on. There was this thread on this previously https://forum.piratebox.cc/read.php?16,15809,15809, I'm not sure if it applies to your case. You can always get back into your box via Failsafe mode (MR3040), so it is quite unlikely thaby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
What credentials do you use to log in? username: alarm passwrod: alarm should be for the first time. The passwd command (once you have ssh-d in to the RPi) prompts you to enter a new password for securing access from other users via ssh.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Hello, no harm done probably. Look into https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3040#restoring_original_firmwareby Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
You have to be connected to the PirateBox WiFi in order to connect via ssh. If you cannot see the SSID, then most likely you are not in the network and that is why you get a connection timeout error as well (putty cannot find the - in this case - non-existent server). You can reboot the piratebox and see if the network comes online. If yes, then try to join and ssh. If not, you can set a fixedby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
What error message? Try using the IP address perhaps, ssh alarm@192.168.77.1by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
The guide is working for sure, if you cannot give any more information to troubleshoot I would recommend to simply restart. Wipe the SD card and load the .img file onto it again and follow the steps. If you can give more information, we can try to help you troubleshoot.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
I have the RPi2 image, I can seed that for you if you want.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Hello, thank you for the feedback. New features take time, so at the start such things have to be done by hand. I'm happy you go it to work, have fun with your box!by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
You can use Failsafe mode to gain access. Then simply follow the guide to restore the original firmware, which is also described in the above linked wiki page.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
I'm glad it worked out. I have no experience with OSX, so I cannot heal on how to mount it there, but it would be definitely easier Alternatively, you can copy the file to your PC, edit locally and then copy back to the www directory via scp.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Depending on the version of the adapter (http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Wi-Fi_Adapters) you may need a powered hub. Also, the driver may not be pre-installed.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
You can try t use another USB stick and see if it makes a difference. The network itself should be more than enough to stream a 720p movie, the length shouldn't be a limiting factor. I'm not sure if the file format would make a difference, what format are you streaming?by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box

You can check the interfaces you have with ifconfig This will show you the status of the currently active interfaces. From there you should be able to see which one is actually broadcasting the local network. Although I'm not sure if the new interface is automatically detected and used as default instead of the on-board one. If not,you may have to change #Iw physical interface PHY_IF=by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
The PirateBox is a stand-alone system, it does not matter where you take it, you will have the same experience. The IP address will be the same. WiFi will work the same. No need to edit anything once set up properly.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
For the moment I would suggest embedding the download page in an iframe, I have no ideas currently for hyperlinking from the chat directly. If anything comes to my mind, I'll let you know.by Nargren - Mods and Themes
What device are you using? Also, unless your problem is related t this thread, please open a new one.by Nargren - PirateBox OpenWrt
I have streamed movies previously from my MR3020 without problem and that hardware is weaker than a Raspberry. I have just tried again, streaming a ripped .avi to my phone, no lag at all. I don't remember if I have tried a 1080p movie, but I don't think it would be a problem. Is it an HD movie you are trying to steam? With 802.11n network shouldn't be a problem though.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Weird for the password setting. The second method worked, that's even better! (Directly on the SD card) I think it is OK to chmod them, but I would revert it to original afterwards just to make sure everything works perfectly (aka as original). I would make a further recommendation, take a copy of the whole www directory, modify it locally and simply replace the original www directory (by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Are you accessing the Raspberry from Windows? The SD card has 2 partitions on it, a smaller one containing what you linked above and a 2GB partition with data files including the www directory. Ubuntu mounts both partitions automatically, if this does not happen, you can mount it manually. If you only have Windows, you can try to ssh into the box with Putty with "alarm" and modifyby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
I think it is much easier to edit .html files directly on the SD card. You can simply plug it into your laptop and edit the files in the www directory. It saves a lot of time of uploading and debugging. How have you tried editing the files from the terminal? sudo should give you root privileges.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
So you just want to see basically a link to the available files/media on the chat box without having to go to the Download page? First thing that comes to my mind is to use a simple iframe which shows the file list on the main page. Of course, then after a file upload the list would only refresh if the user refreshes the page.by Nargren - Mods and Themes
Was this problem resolved? It could be useful for the rest of the forum if you wrote down your findings.by Nargren - PirateBox LiveUSB
Did yo manage to find out the problem? It would be nice to have some feedback here for the rest of the forum. What network adapter do you have? Some cannot be used in AP mode.by Nargren - PirateBox LiveUSB
Kind of old thread, sorry for the late reply. I will run some checks and searches. In the meanwhile, you can do this with Kareha, have you tried that?by Nargren - Mods and Themes
The current PirateBox version doesn't support PHP out of the box. (PirateBox was aiming at inexpensive hardware (MR3020,MR3040), however these are often quite weak and were not meant for running modern websites) If you just want a forum you can take a look at Mods/OpenWRT If you want to run PHP on OpenWRT regardless, or on a Raspberry (easier), then it is possible, and there is a guide iby Nargren - Mods and Themes
I'm not sure if this has been done before, however you could write a script to do it. Look into Cron jobs. You could grab the "modified time" of the files in directory X and apply a command to them. If you decide to write a script it would be nice to share it here.by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
Https (for security measures built into the protocol) cannot by hijacked/redirected easily, as far as I know, this issue has not been overcome yet. (If we could hijack that, then anyone could hijack facebook and redirect to a malicious, similarly-looking site) So for the moment only http sites are working. If you type kajsbfeirge.com, depending on your browser it might do a search for the siteby Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
If you visit any page in your browser while connected to the network, you should be redirected to piratebox.lan, yes. What happens if you try to visit a random page? What error message do you get? You can try to see if the dns resolution is working properly, try to ping piratebox.lan ping google.com both should resolve to 192.168.77.1by Nargren - Raspberry Pi(rate)Box
